Congratulations to Elizabeth (Betsy) Falkoff, an Associate in Cummings & Lockwood’s Private Clients Group, on receiving the Fairfield and Westchester County Business Journals’ 2022 Millennial + Gen Z Award. The awards, which are given to Millennials who are emerging professional leaders in their industries in our geographic region, will be presented on November 16, 2022, at the Greenwich Hyatt in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Falkoff is motivated by a sense of purpose and wants to improve the lives of those around her and the communities in which she lives and works. As such, she enjoys sharing her time, energy and expertise making a positive impact on others within her community, and was motivated to choose a career that was meaningful and purposeful. In both her personal and professional life, Betsy places an emphasis on building communities, developing personal and collaborative relationships, and cultivating lasting friendships.
Betsy was born in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1986, raised in Stamford, graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A., cum laude, in Political Science in 2008 and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2012. When she got married, she returned to Old Greenwich where she now lives with her husband, David, and their two young children, Ryan who is six years old and Ava who is three.
In addition to working hard and excelling in her academic studies, Betsy exhibited a strong interest in the Fairfield County community in which she lived and spent a considerable amount of her time doing pro bono and community service work. While in college, she volunteered with Connecticut Legal Services in Stamford assisting with the creation of a specialized wage and hour law clinic. While in law school, she was Vice President of the Public Interest Law Project and recipient of the Project’s Grant which allowed her to continue her work at Connecticut Legal Services. She also worked for the Stamford Public Defender’s Office.
Her dedication to serving the needs of the community and her passionate desire to help people ultimately manifested itself in her professional career. Based in Cummings & Lockwood’s Stamford office, Betsy is a private clients attorney with nearly 10 years of experience practicing trust and estate law.
In her position, she helps individuals and families create and implement sophisticated estate plans which protect them in the event of incapacity or death, and help to transition their wealth from one generation to the next. While she is driven professionally, she is motivated by bringing her clients peace of mind about the future. What is especially rewarding about her work is that she is able to build long-term relationships with her clients, serving as a valued legal advisor and creating relationships that span the generations.
Betsy’s commitment to public service is also reflected in her philanthropic activities. She is a Board Member of the Friends of Greenwich Point, and serves on the Friends of Stepping Stones Committee of the Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk, Connecticut.
